The Story Behind Sila
I started a local community for young professionals to grow closer to faith — and to each other. But over time, I noticed something: the more we grew, the harder it became to maintain a close connection to every single person. What started as real connection slowly turned into marketing funnels, email lists, and calendar invites. Every gathering became a juggling act of apps, spreadsheets, and endless admin.
Along the way, I met countless community leaders with the same story — hearts full of purpose, but drained by the very tools meant to help them.
There had to be a better way.
With a background in building and scaling products at AWS and GitHub—and years spent leading a community of thousands—I saw firsthand how technology could either empower or divide people. I built Sila to help millions rediscover the joy of sincere community building.
